Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has raved about Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho on the club’s official website.

Arteta will face Mourinho in the North London derby this weekend. Tottenham will lock horns with Arsenal at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday evening.

Ahead of the big game, the Spaniard has spoken highly of the Portuguese, and it is clear that he is a big fan of the former Chelsea and Manchester United boss.

Arteta told Arsenal’s official website about Mourinho: “I know him well. We spent some time together in Barcelona and obviously we’ve played against each other a million times. I admire him, I think what he’s done in the game is incredible, it’s remarkable.

“He has a unique character and personality. He’s someone that I think in football we have to appreciate and admire. Me, as a young coach, I know what it takes to be sitting where we are and the way he’s done it in different countries takes a lot of guts.

“He’s brave and then he has an edge to be able to transmit a mentality to everyone to keep winning. That mentality for me is what makes him really special.”

Admirable

The North London derby is one of the biggest and fiercest games in the world, and Sunday’s match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium promises to be an exciting one.

It is very admirable that Arteta has so openly praised Mourinho, who is one of the best managers in the world.

Such huge respect from Arteta shows just how highly rated Mourinho is among fellow managers and the impact he is still having on the game.

Tottenham are doing well in the Premier League at the moment and are level on points with defending champions Liverpool at the top of the table.
