Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Brighton & Hove Albion’s Roberto De Zerbi in recent weeks.

The Telegraph have reported that Spurs are eyeing the 43-year-old in case Antonio Conte goes in summer.

Speculation over the Tottenham manager’s long-term future has intensified in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, De Zerbi has worked wonders at the Amex Stadium since taking over from Graham Potter in September.

He has continued his predecessor’s good work and looks set for a record high Premier League finish with his club.

Southgate, speaking at his England squad announcement press conference, was asked about Brighton duo Lewis Dunk and Solly March.

He praised the duo and also lauded the reported Spurs managerial target.

“(Dunk and March) are playing very well and their club are playing exceptionally well,” said Southgate, as per Football Daily.

“The coach is doing an amazing job. He’s got the team playing in a unique style in our league.

“They’re having an outstanding season as a club. Solly, we had in the Under 21s with us, a player we know well.

“But at the moment I don’t see him ahead of Rashford, Grealish, Foden, Saka in those positions on the field.

“They’re hard calls and we’re watching everybody.”

‘Wonderful football’

Southgate’s praise of De Zerbi echo Pep Guardiola’s recent comments about the reported Tottenham target.

“De Zerbi… is changing many things in English football, playing wonderful football,” Sky Sports Italia quoted him as saying.

Obviously it doesn’t look like Tottenham need to worry about a new manager just yet. It looks like Conte will stay put until at least the summer.

However, Spurs need to keep tabs on potential targets just in case he does leave at the end of the season. And De Zerbi is a good shout.
