Marcelo Bielsa has reportedly left Leeds United tonight, after three-and-a-half years in charge in West Yorkshire.

Leeds suffered another heavy defeat this afternoon as Spurs cruised to an emphatic 4-0 victory at Elland Road.

As a consequence, the Whites have now shipped 20 goals in their last five Premier League outings.

According to talkSPORT, Leeds, who are two points above the relegation zone, have parted company with their popular and enigmatic manager.

Here’s how David Seaman reacted to the rumour on Twitter tonight:

Difficult situation

Like Seaman, there’s a lot of Leeds supporters who’ll be devastated if the 66-year-old has indeed left the club.

However, it’s such a difficult situation for owner Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta, the director of football.

It’s a cliche, but football is a results business and the truth is that Leeds were rapidly declining under Bielsa’s tutelage.

And although it probably broke Radrizzani’s heart to wield the axe, given that the South American led United back to the Premier League following a 16-year absence from the big time, dismissal might’ve been necessary.

Relegation would be disastrous for Leeds by virtue of their outlay since returning to England’s top flight and if another manager – like Jesse Marsch, who’s reportedly the top target – is deemed to have a better chance of keeping the Whites up then that decision has to be respected.
