Pedro Neto is one of the best young wingers in the Premier League, and we were not surprised when it emerged in the summer transfer window that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal wanted to sign the Wolverhampton Wanderers star.
Arsenal linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto
In late August, The Athletic journalist David Ornstein said on the Handbrake Off Podcast that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wanted to move for Wolves winger Neto in the final days of the summer transfer window.
The well-known and well-respected journalist added that Arsenal have liked the 22-year-old ‘for a long time’, and that the Gunners were in talks with the Portugal international’s agent Jorge Mendes.
Nothing materialised, and Neto is still at Wolves.
And it does not seem that the winger will move to Arsenal in January 2023.
That’s because he is injured.

Injury blow
It has emerged that the winger will be on the sidelines for a long time.
Wolves, who recently sacked Bruno Lage as their manager, have announced on their official website that the youngster will miss the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar for Portugal due to injury.
Neto suffered a serious ankle injury against West Ham United.
The statement reads: “Pedro sustained an ankle injury against West Ham on Saturday where he strained the lateral ligaments.
“Following further evaluation and a specialist opinion this week, it is planned for him to undergo surgery. This means that, unfortunately, he will not be fit for the upcoming World Cup.”
It will be interesting to see if Arsenal reignite their interest in Neto in the summer of 2023.
