Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw has told LUTV, as quoted by Leeds Live, that he will miss the rest of the season with injury.

Forshaw has not featured for Leeds this term, but is now on the verge of returning to training.

The midfielder should be back with the Leeds squad before the campaign finishes, but he admits that he has his sights set on returning for the start of next season rather than the end of this one.

“I’m probably two, three weeks away from being in full training with the team,” Forshaw said.

“Unfortunately I’m going to miss the end of the season but in the grand scheme of things, I’ll be ready to go with the team for the first day of pre-season if everything goes well.”

When Forshaw does return he may well be a Premier League player, as Leeds are so close to promotion now.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side scored a last minute winner against Swansea City at the weekend, as they edged even closer to sealing a long-awaited return to the top flight.

Leeds are currently six points clear of third placed Brentford, with only three games to play this season.

Bielsa’s men are next in action against bottom of the table Barnsley on Thursday, when their promotion could be confirmed, if other results go in their favour.
