Darren Bent has told talkSPORT that it’s unfortunate that reported Leeds and Newcastle target Fikayo Tomori cannot earn ‘more of an opportunity’ at Chelsea.
It seems as though the 23-year-old is heading for the Stamford Bridge exit door this month, with the likes of Leeds and Newcastle lurking in the background.
talkSPORT claimed in December that Leeds are keen on his services but may miss out on his signature, whilst the BBC Sport also reported that Newcastle also want to add him to their ranks.
Bent was asked about Tomori’s situation following those Newcastle and Leeds rumours.
“I like Tomori, I think he’s a good defender,” said Bent. “I thought he would have got more of an opportunity at Chelsea. But, unfortunately, he didn’t.
“As long as he gets himself back out there and starts playing regular football. I think he will benefit from that.”

Given Chelsea’s defensive problems this season, it is a surprise that Tomori hasn’t been provided with more of a chance at Stamford Bridge.
After Tomori was left out of Chelsea’s FA Cup squad over the weekend, Frank Lampard told the Evening Standard that the central-defender will be heading out for a loan spell this month.
That boosts either Leeds or Newcastle’s chances of securing his signature, with the Yorkshire club more in need of his talents given their defensive issues this season and injuries at the back.
