Everton winger and former Tottenham Hotspur star Andros Townsend has said on talkSPORT (8:29am, June 27, 2022) that Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus would be a great signing for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer transfer window.
Well-known and well-respected journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Arsenal have agreed a deal with Manchester City and have struck personal agreements with Jesus as well.
The Gunners will reported pay Arsenal £45 million in transfer fees for the Brazil international.
A number of British media outlets have also reported that Arsenal will complete the signing of the 25-year-old striker soon.
Jesus has been linked with Tottenham as well, with The Telegraph reporting this month that Spurs want him.

Townsend is a former Tottenham winger and is now at Everton, and he believes that Jesus would be a good signing for Arsenal.
The Englishman has suggested that he is disappointed that Jesus is going to Arsenal because he is going to score a lot of goals.
Andros Townsend on Gabriel Jesus to Arsenal rumour
Townsend said on talkSPORT (8:29am, June 27, 2022): “Great signing, Jesus.
“I know he has had stick in the past, people saying he has never scored 20 goals or 15 goals in a Premier League season, but he has never been the main man at City, he has had to play second fiddle to Aguero, who has obviously been one of the best players in the world.
“Unfortunately, now we are going to see him go to Arsenal and be the main man to score the goals that his quality allows him to do.”
Stats
Jesus made 21 starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League for City last season.
The Brazilian striker scored eight goals and gave eight assists in those games.
Jesus scored four goals and gave one assist in the Champions League last season.
