Rio Ferdinand has given his take on Rio Ferdinand Presents LIVE on Tottenham Hotspur head coach Jose Mourinho’s comments after the North London derby against Arsenal.
Tottenham suffered a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League this past Sunday.
Following the game, Mourinho told Sky Sports that his team were “really bad” in the first half, and that his side did not have any intensity and no pressing.
Former Manchester United defender Ferdinand has said that he is stunned by Mourinho’s comments.
Ferdinand said on Rio Ferdinand Presents LIVE: “I agree with Jose’s comments before the game and I am a little bit disturbed by it. How do you go into a North London derby?
“What this means to the people, the derby, I don’t understand how a manager can say, listen in the first 45 our team were lacking intensity. I can’t get my head around it, it’s kind of unforgivable.”
Tottenham Hotspur need to bounce back
Tottenham were disappointing against Arsenal, who deservedly picked up all three points from the encounter.
Spurs fans will argue that the penalty that Gunners got in the second half should not have been given, and that Erik Lamela was harshly sent off.
However, on the balance of play, Arsenal were the better team, and now Spurs will have to bounce back and head into the international break on a positive note.
Spurs will take on Dinamo Zagreb in the second leg of their Europa League Round of 16 on Thursday evening and then lock horns with Aston Villa at Villa Park in the Premier League next Sunday.
