Charles Watts thinks that Gabriel Magalhaes doesn’t get the equal volume of headlines as his Arsenal teammate, William Saliba.

Since the start of last season, the duo have been fantastic for an Arsenal side that should have won the Premier League title.

Mikel Arteta’s side can only look at themselves in regards to shooting themselves in the foot and bottling that lead, with William Saliba claiming that they would have won the title had he not got injured – he was slammed for his comments.

Either way, it still shouldn’t hide away from the performances Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba have produced, but English journalist Watts thinks it’s ‘unfair’ that one gets more of the limelight than the other, as he told Inside Arsenal

Even though Gabriel Magalhaes signed for the Gunners after his partner in crime, it wasn’t until last season did the rising France star make his senior debut.

The feeling is that William Saliba’s impact and presence is far greater than what Arsenal have had for many a year, with Charles Watts not listing Gabriel Magalhaes in his best five signings since the post-Invincibles era.

William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhaes

“We haven’t got Gabriel in there,” said Watts. “If Saliba is in there, then Gabriel should be in there as well, right?! They come as a partnership.

“It’s kind of similar with Saka and Martinelli. Saliba gets a lot of the headlines when Gabriel potentially doesn’t and it almost feels unfair, at times.

“What Gabriel is doing is equally as important as what William Saliba is doing. You take one of those away from each other and they are probably not the same player.”

Saliba is the main guy

That was proven last season when the 22-year-old got injured during the final few months of the campaign.

Some would argue that they would have won the title had he not been sidelined.

Either way, as Saliba proved up against Erling Haaland at the weekend. There aren’t many players in the Premier League that can do that to the goal-crazy Manchester City striker.
