Owen Hargreaves has stated that Tottenham striker Harry Kane ‘doesn’t look fit’ as his poor form continues, as he told Premier League Productions (05/12/21 at 1:50 pm).
The former England midfielder thinks if Antonio Conte can get Kane back to fitness then the goals will be ‘flying in’ for the striker.
It has been a season to forget so far for Tottenham’s main man, who has managed only one Premier League goal this season.
This comes after he produced probably the best season of his career last time out when he won the Golden Boot award and was the top assist-maker in the Premier League.
Since then, and the well-documented speculation in the summer, he has fallen off a cliff and has struggled to find that goalscoring touch once more.
But Hargreaves thinks there is more than just Kane being out-of-form, as he questioned his fitness levels and the role Conte will have to play in all of this.
“I mean, it unexplainable,” said Hargreaves. “I don’t think, seeing Harry, I don’t think he looks fit.
“I remember the way he played against Manchester United, I couldn’t believe that he didn’t sprint once in the whole game. I thought ‘that’s hard to do in a professional game, not to sprint’.
“I think Conte, the first thing he wants is for the team to work harder. I think if he gets Harry fitter, which he will, then the goals will start flying in.
“Lukaku and Martinez scored goals under Conte. It all involved around them. I think Conte will build the system around Son and Kane. The boys in behind them will work.”

What happened over the summer hasn’t helped Kane’s cause and it has seeped its way through this season.
The now unforgettable Nuno Espirito Santo reign seemingly made matters worse and it will be interesting to see how things pan out under Conte.
In truth, Kane’s performances have been pretty strong, he is just missing those goals.
But it’s quite remarkable how far he has fallen compared to last season because he was doing it all for his club.
