Liverpool have struggled to keep their players fit so far this season, with Jürgen Klopp having to deal with plenty of injury problems at Anfield.

The Reds have been without Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita throughout the current campaign, while Liverpool also lost Arthur Melo to a serious injury, ironically just weeks after signing him as an emergency midfield option.

Liverpool’s treatment room has certainly had many visitors this term, although an appointment is close which should hopefully see fewer injuries occur on Merseyside.

Liverpool close to hiring doctor

Well, the Reds actually lost their Club Doctor following the pre-season tour of Asia, as Jim Moxon surprisingly stood down from his role.

Liverpool failed to find a swift replacement, and are still yet to announce his successor, although The Athletic believe a new Club Doctor is close to being appointed.

The Athletic add that Head of Academy Medical Bevin McCartan and Club Physician Sarah Lindsay have stepped up to cover Moxon while Liverpool searched for a replacement.

Unfortunately, this internal reshuffle appears to have cause some miscommunication at Anfield.

Klopp recently complained about the fact he left Oxlade-Chamberlain and Keita out of his Champions League squad as “everybody told me they would be out for longer” – it is a stressful time at Liverpool right now.

Liverpool adamant Moxon exit had no impact

Interestingly, while it may seem simple to put two and two together in this situation and blame Moxon’s exit for Liverpool’s injury issues, the Reds are adamant his departure carries no relevance.

The Athletic believe senior club sources at Anfield have firmly dismissed any suggestions that the medical team’s reshuffle has contributed to the lengthy injury list this season, which is certainly interesting.

Hopefully, Liverpool can appoint a new Club Doctor soon, and look to have a successful second half of the season following the World Cup.
