Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Craig Gordon from Celtic in the January transfer window.

Celtic midfielder Scott Brown has told Sky Sports (13:53) that he and his teammates do not want Craig Gordon to leave the club in the January transfer window.

According to Sky Sports, Premier League giants Chelsea are interested in signing Gordon from Scottish Premiership giants Celtic this month.

It has been reported that the Blues have had a bid for the Scotland international goalkeeper rejected.

Celtic captain Brown has said that he and his teammates hope that Gordon does not leave the Hoops in the January transfer window.

The 31-year-old Scotland international midfielder has also stated that it is understandable why Chelsea are interested in the goalkeeper.

Celtic's Craig Gordon gestures

“Craig is fantastic,” Brown told Sky Sports (13:53). “He has shown that this season. He is enjoying his football here and hopefully he stays for a long time.

“The gaffer wants him here, the club and all the lads want him here so it would be great for him to stay here but it is understandable that people come in for him because he has been playing top class all season and has stepped up from last season.”

Gordon is one of the best goalkeepers in the Scottish Premiership and is a key player in the current Celtic squad.

While it is clear that the Scotsman is not going to be the first choice at Chelsea, one can understand the temptation of joining the London club.

Chelsea are going strong in the Premier League at the moment and are favourites to win the title.
