Tottenham Hotspur assistant manager Cristian Stellini has heaped praise on Ben Daviesas per Football London – with the Welshman starring in a new role against West Ham and Chelsea in the past two outings – as a left wing-back.

Davies, 29, clocked up his 300th outing for Tottenham on Sunday as Spurs secured an impressive 2-0 win against their rivals. Oliver Skipp scored his first Spurs goal, before Harry Kane notched his 268th for the club at the back post.

Davies, a 77-time Wales star, has been ever-present for Spurs this season – starting the last six League games for Spurs. Ryan Sessegnon is injured and Ivan Perisic’s form taking a downturn of late, Davies has become first choice in that role.

He has been superb for Spurs, including an assist that saw Spurs break the deadlock against West Ham last week. Stellini was asked about the form of the “underrated” ex-Swansea man – and he applauded the versatile defender.

“He brings energy, he brings positivity. He brings everything important to play the type of match we played against Chelsea and West Ham. Positive, energy and attacking space. All we need. Ben is very focused on what we ask of him.”

Cristian Stellini heaps praise on Tottenham defender Ben Davies

Davies has been superb. He flies under the radar at Tottenham for his consistency, given the likes of Kane, Son Heung-min and plenty of others often grab the headlines. Davies has been excellent and deserves the praise coming his way.

Often coined as a defensive full-back that has been used regularly on the left side of a three-man defence. Or, even used by Jose Mourinho in the middle of a back four at times, Davies is now impressing as a wing-back, even attacking.

Incredibly versatile, then, as well as being consistent and hardly ever letting his side down with a poor performance. It might be that he is rested against Sheffield United but in the next few weeks, he will be key for Spurs.
