Tottenham Hotspur attacker Heung-min Son has had a tough time of it recently. The South Korean underwhelmed when it mattered for his country at the Olympic Games and has had to fend off rumours regarding his future at Spurs in recent weeks.

Today he got the chance to forget about his woes as he took to the field with South Korea against China. He certainly did just that.

The Spurs forward was brilliant throughout as South Korea won 3-2 in their World Cup qualifier in Seoul.

His whipped in free kick caused the first goal, as veteran China midfielder Zheng Zhi put the ball in his own net.

He then set up the third. His excellent run and dribble down the left-wing was matched by a good pass across the face of the goal. Ja-cheol Koo did the rest.

Son rightfully earned the man of the match award for his performance and will now be hoping to take that form back to Spurs.

The South Korean has been excused for the Jeonbuk Warriors next game against Syria so he can go prepare with Tottenham.

Perhaps this could be the spark he needed.
