Newcastle United loanee Siem de Jong has found some form over the last couple of games for PSV Eindhoven.
Siem de Jong moved PSV Eindhoven on a season long loan from Newcastle in the summer, but failed to endear himself to the fans of the Dutch side immediately, due to the combination of a lack of goals, and his previous affiliation to Ajax.
He has had to endure heavy criticism for his performances, along with continuous abuse form his own fans, after being booed on a regular basis by the PSV faithful.
Yesterday, as Ajax played host to PSV in the Eredivisie, the Newcastle loanee entered the pitch after 58 minutes, once again to a chorus of boos, but this time, they were not emanating from his own fans.
Siem De Jong during his time with Ajax
Ajax and PSV is one of the biggest rivalries in Holland, and the two clubs have been by far and away the most successful in Dutch football.
And De Jong, 27, played for Ajax before he moved to St James’ Park in 2014, scoring 61 goals throughout his time with the club.
So when he came on as a substitute during yesterday’s second vs third clash, it was no surprise that he was roundly booed.

And, as fate would have it, it was De Jong who scored an equaliser for his side in the 80th minute, as they left the Amsterdam Arena with what could prove to be a a vital point.
With two goals in his last two games, could the Dutch striker’s career finally be back on track?
It is too early to say of course, but there is no better tonic for low confidence than scoring a late goal away from home, against your fiercest rivals.
