Aston Villa are reportedly planning to make a bid for Odsonne Edouard, and the Celtic striker’s teammate James Forrest’s recent comments will encourage the fans of the English club.

According to a report in The Sun published at 10:30pm on Saturday, Villa are planning to make an offer of £30 million for Celtic striker Edouard.

The Frenchman is one of the best strikers in the Scottish Premiership, and his teammate Forrest rates him highly.

In comments published in The Daily Record at 6am on August 21, the 29-year-old said: “His season last year was unbelievable and when sometimes we maybe didn’t look like scoring, he would come up with something.

“Since he has come in he has just got better and better and all the lads would say he’s great to play with. His link up play is really good, he has a great touch and he can beat men with the way he moves. He’s great to have in the team.”

Good signing for Aston Villa?

Edouard is a very prolific striker who has proven himself to a regular goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership.

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, the 22-year-old has scored three goals and provided one assist in three Scottish Premiership matches for Celtic so far this season.

During the 2019-20 campaign, the Frenchman scored 21 goals and provided 12 assists in 27 league games, while in 2018-19, the youngster scored 15 goals and provided six assists in the league, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

Villa need to sign a new striker who will bang in the goals next season – and beyond – and given the young age and the all-around game of Edouard, he would be a very good signing for Dean Smith’s side.
