Tottenham Hotspur fans have hit out at the European Super League after they made a statement last night, following their exit from the competition.

Tottenham announced their plans to withdraw from the competition last night after a dramatic 48 hours since its inception.

Spurs were joined by every other Premier League club in stating their desire to step away from the newly formed competition.

The ESL had to act after a dramatic night, which saw half their entrants leave.

They stated, as covered by the Guardian: “Despite the announced departure of the English clubs, forced to take such decisions due to the pressure on them, we are convinced our proposal is fully aligned with European law and regulations.

“Given the current circumstances, we shall reconsider the most appropriate steps to reshape the project, always having in mind our goals of offering fans the best experience possible while enhancing solidarity payments for the entire football community.”

That news has been treated with contempt by Tottenham fans, who appear to show no desire to join the competition, even if changes are made.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is now also facing huge calls to stand down for his role in the saga.

Spurs have gone through one of their most dramatic periods in their history in the past week, with the club also sacking Jose Mourinho this week.

Tottenham are now in action against Southampton tonight, before they face the prospect of a League Cup final against Manchester City at the weekend.
