Sir Alex Ferguson has paid tribute to Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson for his form since joining the Reds.
The 27-year-old joined Liverpool in an £8 million deal from Hull City almost four years ago [Goal] and since then, has established himself as one of Europe’s finest left-backs.
Robertson, who is set to represent Scotland at Euro 2020, has helped Jurgen Klopp’s side to a Champions League and Premier League title since 2019.
And here’s what the iconic Manchester United manager said about the Liverpool star via The Metro: “Robertson the last two years at Liverpool has been unbelievable.”
Michael Edwards, Liverpool’s director of football, has clearly pulled off quite a few masterstrokes in the transfer market down the years.
Whether it’s buying or selling, the Reds chief has been known to get a serious bargain.
But paying a mere £8 million for Robertson just might be the best piece of business that Edwards has conducted at Liverpool.
Before this season, the former Celtic youth had managed 30 assists in his first three years at Anfield, averaging 10 per campaign, and as a defender that’s a staggering number.
Even better is the fact that he only turned 27 last month and therefore hasn’t even hit the prime of his career yet. When all is said and done, Robertson may well be considered a Liverpool great and for £8 million, well sometimes the word ‘bargain’ just doesn’t cut it.
