Sami Hyypia wote on Sky Sports’ Instagram page that it’s ‘unbelievable’ that Leeds were awarded a penalty against Burnley and then the away team had a goal disallowed at Elland Road on Sunday.
Leeds go into today’s game against West Brom having beaten Sean Dyche’s men in controversial fashion even though the Yorkshire side will feel that they have done nothing wrong.
Perhaps Burnley were unfortunate that Ashley Barnes’ goal was ruled out, but Bamford was seemingly fouled for the penalty by Nick Pope during his side’s 1-0 win.
Nonetheless, that penalty call did fall in Leeds’ favour and the decision to disallow Barnes’ goal, but it’s pieces of luck the newly-promoted team will take all day long.
This is what former Liverpool defender Hyypia wrote on Sky Sports’ Instagram page:
‘It’s not the referees fault when this happens,” said Hyypia. “It’s the VAR room whose fault it is. No penalty and the goal should have stood. Unbelievable they can’t get these right when all of us can see it on the replays’.

The issue with VAR is that every team has been on the wrong end of a call and more than likely it will continue to happen again.
Either way, Marcelo Bielsa’s side deserved all three points and answered a number of their critics by also securing a clean sheet following that defeat at Old Trafford.
Now it’s for the gung-ho, 100 miles-per-hour Bielsa preparing to take on the safety-first and keep-to-the-limit, Sam Allardyce in a few hours time.
