Rodri has stated that Arsenal are an ‘unbelievable’ team following Manchester City’s 2-1 win at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, as he told BT Sport.

The Manchester City midfielder scored a stoppage-time winner and claimed that the job Mikel Arteta is doing at Arsenal is ‘massive’.

Given that Arteta had to self-isolate and watch the game from home, he would have been turning his house upside down given some of the calls that were made yesterday.

From Martin Odegaard not being awarded a penalty to Bernardo Silva winning a dubious spot-kick that levelled the scores in the second half.

It was pure heartbreak for those in Arsenal colours and Rodri was impressed by what he and his teammates were up against.

“You always have these kinds of games, two or three in a season,” said Rodri. “They are an unbelievable team. They show why they are in that position.

“The way they grow with Mikel is huge. It’s massive. We knew it. We know they rest more than us.

“They have six days to prepare. We had three games in one week. The travel is tough sometimes, so when you don’t have the physicality, maybe you have to play a little bit more easy. We struggle a little bit in the first half.

“I think in the second half, we controlled it a little bit more. But sometimes it’s like this. The other team also plays. They press a lot. And they did a great game.”

Rodri sure did rub it in when he scored the late winner because he celebrated in front of the home supporters.

Understandably so, it didn’t go down too well with the Arsenal faithful, who have every right to be angry with the decisions that went against them yesterday.

But the bigger picture needs to be looked at and that’s the progression Arsenal are making under Arteta.

11 v 11, even 10 v 11, the Gunners went toe-to-toe with the Premier League champions and more than held their own.
