Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United and David Moyes’s West Ham United are reportedly going head-to-head over Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes.
Rudy Galetti has reported on Twitter that Newcastle United and West Ham United are interested in signing Harvey Barnes from Leicester City in the summer transfer window.
The Italian journalist has claimed that although Barnes prefers Newcastle, West Ham are not giving up and are determined to bring him to London Stadium this summer.
Galetti has said that the coming days will be decisive regarding the future of Barnes.
The Italian reporter has told GiveMeSport that Newcastle are willing to pay £35 million for the 25-year-old England international winger, described as “unbelievable” by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp in Metro in February 2021.
Galetti said this past weekend: “Unless there’s a twist, the next week will be decisive for Barnes to Newcastle.
“Discussions are ongoing at a good pace and Eddie Howe wants Barnes.
Despite the talks being at a good stage between West Ham and Leicester, Harvey Barnes prefers to join Newcastle and he has already agreed the terms of his move.
“Now it’s up to the clubs, as Newcastle are willing to pay around £35m for the English player. As told, during the next week the deal could be finalised.”
Newcastle United could beat West Ham United in Harvey Barnes race
We believe that Newcastle United will win the race for the signature of Harvey Barnes ahead of West Ham United.

If the winger himself prefers a move to Newcastle, then it is hard to see how the Hammers could change his mind.
Yes, West Ham are a big and established club in the Premier League and won the UEFA Europa Conference League last season, but they will not play in the UEFA Champions League in 2023-24.
Newcastle will.
Unlike West Ham, Newcastle will also be in the running for the Premier League top four next season.
Under owners, Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), and manager Eddie Howe, Newcastle are going places and have ambitious plans for the future.
Barnes made 32 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League for Leicester last season.
The Leicester no. 7 scored 13 goals and gave one assist in those games.
Leicester will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League.
