Reported Arsenal target Philippe Coutinho has told The Mirror that he is not thinking about his future right now.

The former Liverpool star is preparing for the Champions League final between Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain on Sunday.

The 28-year-old, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, joined Bayern on a season-long loan deal from Barcelona in the summer of 2019.

Earlier this month, Sport reported of interest in the Brazil international from Arsenal.

Coutinho has been asked about his future, and he has made it clear that for now, his focus is on the big game.

Coutinho told The Mirror when asked about his future: “My mind is fully focused on the competition.

“It’s a unique opportunity for us. I’m very happy to be in the Champions League final.

“On my future, I haven’t thought about it because I’m only thinking about the final.”

No need at Arsenal?

With Arsenal having recently signed Willian on a free transfer, it is hard to see how Coutinho would fit in the Gunners’ starting lineup, especially as Mesut Ozil is still at the club.

True, the former Liverpool star would be a very good addition to head coach Mikel Arteta’s squad and would give the Spaniard a valuable option, but it is hard to see the North London outfit come up with the big transfer fee that Barcelona would demand for the 28-year-old, described as “unbelievable” by his former Liverpool teammate Glen Johnson on talkSPORT in April 2020.

Meanwhile, Rio Ferdinand has raved about reported Arsenal target Houssem Aouar on BT Sport.

The Manchester United legend has been impressed with the Lyon midfielder and has hailed his attributes.

According to ESPN, Arsenal are interested in signing the 22-year-old from Lyon in the summer transfer window.

The report has claimed that talks have already taken place between the two clubs, and that there will be more discussions soon.

Ferdinand told BT Sport, as transcribed by Goal.com: “He [Aouar] provides creativity in this team. A kid so young but he’s relied upon so much. That shows the belief they’ve got in him and the belief he has in himself.

“You see his imagination and the pictures he creates and sees on the pitch, the vision and the tactical awareness. The confidence is what exudes out of this boy. He’s a fabulous player to watch. He drives past people and then it’s about decision-making and the timing of the pass.

“He has it all. He reminds me of [former Arsenal and Manchester City star] Samir Nasri at times. He’s someone who can be a top player at one of the top clubs in Europe.”
