Liverpool target Matheus Nunes has now made it clear to Wolverhampton Wanderers that the midfielder wants to secure a transfer to Manchester City before the deadline.
That is according to talkSPORT, which reports that Nunes has told Wolves he wants to go to Pep Guardiola’s side. The 24-year-old has made it explicitly clear to the Molineux leadership that wants to go to Etihad Stadium. But the Premier League sides are still yet to agree a fee.
Manchester City have offered Wolves £47m but the West Midlands natives quickly rejected the proposal. They believe the 11-cap Portugal international is worth in excess of £60m. But the two teams could now reach a compromise by including Tommy Doyle in part-exchange.

Manchester City to offer Doyle to Wolves for Nunes’ transfer
Wolves have long had Doyle on their radar and explored his transfer before Manchester City swooped to sign Nunes. The Citizens are aware of the Old Gold’s interest in Doyle. So, Etihad Stadium chiefs are now readying an improved proposal that includes Doyle and a cash offer.
Doyle enjoyed a strong spell on loan at Sheffield United last season to help the Blades claim promotion. The 21-year-old offered three goals and four assists in 33 Championship outings. But Guardiola has not included the Manchester-born midfielder in his team so far this term.

Manchester City want to ‘get the jump’ on Liverpool’s interest
Now, Doyle could be off to Wolves to see Manchester City beat Liverpool to Nunes’ transfer. Dean Jones has claimed that the Etihad Stadium side are keen to ‘get the jump’ on the Reds by landing Nunes this summer. Anfield chiefs have eyed him as a target for a future window.
Nunes, who Goncalo Santos calls ‘unbelievable’ with the ball, only moved to Molineux from Sporting Lisbon last August. He has since offered Wolves just one goal and one assist across 41 games in all competitions. Nunes penned both over 34 Premier League games last term.
