Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has raved about his new teammate Thiago Alcantara on the club’s official website.
The defending Premier League champions signed Thiago from German and European giants Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window.
Netherlands international Wijnaldum played against the Spain international midfielder in the Champions League in 2018-19, as stated on Liverpool’s official website.
The former Newcastle United star has spoken highly of the 29-year-old, and is excited to play with him.
Wijnaldum told Liverpool’s official website about Thiago: “Everything impressed me. I saw him play for years now, I played against him when we played against Bayern, and the awareness he has on the pitch, the confidence he has on the ball and the way he manages to let the team play is unbelievable.
“He’s such a quality player that is going to make this team even better than we were before. So, I’m really happy, everyone is really happy, to have him here. He’s also happy to be here. I think it’s a perfect match: Liverpool and Thiago.”
Making Liverpool better
Liverpool were head and shoulders above the rest of the teams in the Premier League last season, and the arrival of Thiago will make manager Jurgen Klopp’s side better and will enhance their chances of winning the title again in 2020-21.
True, the Reds have not looked particularly great so far this season, especially in defence, but it is only the start of the season.
The guile, poise and quality that Thiago has, both on the ball and off it, will make the Reds better.
Liverpool are fifth in the Premier League table at the moment with nine points from four matches.
