Liverpool fans have been left disappointed by the news that Diogo Jota’s injury comeback may take longer than first expected.
The Athletic had reported that Jota was due back in January, but the £45 million Liverpool striker (Sky) has now been ruled out until February by the same publication.
That looks like dire news for Liverpool, who haven’t shown anywhere near their best going forward in recent weeks.
And the latest update from James Pearce on Jota has not gone down well with Liverpool supporters.
Liverpool haven’t scored in their last three Premier League fixtures so it is no surprise that Reds fans are so eager to have Jota back.
The Portuguese forward looked in wonderful form in his initial few appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side, but he hasn’t been able to make an impact of late due to injury.
Liverpool have been searching for the right attacking formula without him, but with Sadio Mane, Mo Salah and Roberto Firmino all failing to fire, their results have taken a turn for the worse.
Liverpool have now slipped into fourth place in the Premier League table, and they will hope that they remain within touching distance of top spot by the time Jota does return.
