Speaking on the Spurs Versus Podcast, Micky Hazard has been lauding Tottenham’s Gareth Bale, claiming that he’s almost unstoppable at times.
The Welshman has had something of a rollercoaster of a season. At times, he’s looked like one of the best players in the league, but unfortunately, he’s been left on the bench far too often at Tottenham.
Hazard believes that Bale is still a fantastic player, and that if his workrate was just a bit better, he’d improve even more.
“Gareth is an unbelievable footballer, when he was in his heyday at Spurs, his workrate was phenomenal as well. Nowadays he does it more when he’s got the ball, but I think he’d be even better if he worked without it as well as he could pick the ball up in more space and attack players, because when he attacks players he almost looks unstoppable,” Hazard said.

It’s a fair comment to say that Bale looks unstoppable at times, but improving his workrate is easier said than done.
Let’s be fair, Bale is no spring chicken anymore, he’s a 31-year-old who has been playing senior football for the best part of 15 years, so he’s bound to be slowing down at this point.
His pace hasn’t deserted him yet, but energy conservation is a massive part of his game at this point, and if he was to up his workrate, there’s no guarantee that he’d be as explosive as he is now.
