Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has admitted that reported Liverpool target Thiago Alcantara was on another level to him in the Champions League this season.
Speaking to Sport Bible, Mount admitted that he could not get near the Spaniard, who is on Liverpool’s wihslist this summer.
And Mount may be among the players hoping that Thiago doesn’t arrive at Anfield this summer, as it will only make Chelsea’s task of catching the Reds even harder.
“The Champions League is on another level. The games feel different,” Mount said.
“Bayern have some unbelievable world-class players… Lewandowski, Kimmich and Thiago in midfield, I just couldn’t get near him. They moved the ball around the team so quickly.
“When you’re up against players like that you’re thinking, ‘How are we going to stop this?’ It was a big moment, it opened my eyes. It made me realise, ‘This is the next level, this where you need to be.’ And I am determined to work hard and reach that level.”
Liverpool are yet to meet Bayern’s asking price for Thiago, but it is thought that they have a strong interest in him.
Thiago is also believed to be keen on a move to Liverpool, if a deal can be agreed, as reported by the Guardian.

Liverpool supporters have been left frustrated by their lack of progress over the deal, and comments like Mount’s show why the potential transfer has created such excitement.
Thiago is among the very finest midfield players in world football, and his arrival on Merseyside would only make Liverpool an even stronger side, as they look to defend their Premier League title.
