Andy Cole has backed Liverpool to secure the Premier League title if they beat Manchester City at the Etihad on Sunday.
The treble-winning striker added Liverpool have ‘massive momentum’ and is shocked by how they have closed the gap on Pep Guardiola’s side by claiming it’s ‘unbelievable’.
It wasn’t so long ago that Jurgen Klopp and his players were 10+ points behind Manchester City in the Premier League table.
But, slowly but surely, this relentless Liverpool team has chased down those in Man City colours and now everyone is set for a blockbuster title showdown at the weekend.
Cole lauded the efforts from Klopp’s side and added that it doesn’t matter if they aren’t playing well because it’s all about the result, as he told Sky Sports News (03/04/22 at 10:35 am).
“They have massive momentum,” said Cole. “Where Liverpool have come from. I said before ‘it’s over. Manchester City will run away with it’.
“What Liverpool have done since then is unbelievable. I think being in that position. Knowing that you are chasing.
“If Liverpool go to the Etihad and win, for me, they are in pole position. Knowing they have gone to Man City, beat them and then keep winning football matches. It’s as simple as that.
“Being in that position. When you are chasing, you go to that team, to their home ground and beat them. Then, it makes you feel invincible.
“They have been frightening. People have said ‘they haven’t played well’. Fair enough, but if you are still winning football matches, then that’s what it’s like to become champions.”

Before the title talk can kick off ahead of a big week, both teams have Champions League matters to deal with.
The Reds are in Portugal ahead of their first-leg quarter-final meeting against Benfica.
Whilst Manchester City will welcome Diego Simeone’s all-action and in-your-face, Atletico Madrid side to the Etihad.
It would be of great help, for both sides, if they can secure comfortable victories so they can have less mental pressure going into the second leg.
Then, as a result, rotate in a free manner for their second meeting – the FA Cup semi-final – next Saturday.
