Alan Shearer was left shocked that Joe Gelhardt was able to win the header moments before his Leeds United winner on Sunday, as he told Premier League Productions (13/03/22 at 7:15 pm).
The former England striker simply stated that it was ‘unbelievable’ he was able to do that during the dramatic scenes at Elland Road.
Heading into stoppage-time, Leeds thought they were going to crawl over the line with the three points, only for James McLean to score a late equaliser.
The Leeds faithful would have been sunk right into their chairs, at that moment.
But that soon changed when Gelhardt won a header following ball over the top, his flick-on fell into the path of Raphinha, who remained cool and cut the ball back for the Leeds youngster to score the most dramatic of late, late winners.
It was a moment to savour for new Leeds boss Jesse Marsch because it was his first win since taking charge and this is what Shearer had to say about it.
“He wins the header,” said Shearer. “He wins the header against the centre-half. It’s unbelievable.”

It’s moments like this that help you survive and it’s now going to be interesting to see how Leeds used this win to march forward.
The Leeds fans, who have been slightly frustrated of late, now have something to cling on to.
What makes matters better for them is that Burnley, Newcastle, Norwich, of course, and Everton all lost this weekend.
But, with Gelhardt making such a positive impact once again, the livewire forward certainly deserves a start now.
