Unai Emery is currently enjoying a purple patch of form early on in his life at Arsenal, having won nine games on the bounce. A very accomplished head coach who won the treble at PSG last season, Emery’s finest managerial accomplishment is undoubtedly the three consecutive Europa League titles he won at Sevilla.

Today then, since this was the most upvoted suggestion on a recent video of ours, we take a look at the current Arsenal boss’ last 7 signings whilst managing Sevilla. As always, loan moves do not feature and nor do youth recruits, only full first team signings.

Here are Unai Emery’s last 7 Sevilla signings: Where are they now?

7. Ciro Immobile – Lazio

A man who seems to feature in every other video we do these days, Ciro Immobile’s high frequency appearances on this channel are the consequence of him having had a fair few clubs and having been excellent at Lazio for the last couple of seasons. The Italian international was Emery’s last signing in the south of Spain, arriving in Seville from Borussia Dortmund for around £10 million. Immobile didn’t stick around for long, soon joining Lazio for just 8.75 million euros. That has proved to be an absolutely inspired piece of business by the Serie A side, with Immobile having scored 73 goals in 98 games for Lazio since joining the club.

6. Fernando Llorente – Tottenham Hotspur

Another centre-forward in sixth place, Fernando Llorente also didn’t last long in Seville, and he now plays for Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham. A towering but technical centre-forward who presents a particular threat in the air, Llorente is best known for his eight years spell with Athletic Bilbao. He joined Sevilla after a couple of years at Juventus, but failed to make an impression with Spain’s oldest sporting club solely dedicated to football. Now aged 33, the former Spanish international currently plays second fiddle to Harry Kane at Tottenham, but he has really struggled to make an impression since joining the Londoners.

5. Mariano – Galatasaray

An experienced but uncapped Brazilian right-back, Mariano is a quick, hard working and attack-minded full-back. Unai Emery brought Mariano to Sevilla after a few years in France with Bordeaux, and unlike Immobile and Llorente, he did make an impact at the club. He made exactly 80 appearances in two seasons, winning one Europa League title, before departing for his current club Galatasaray.

4. Steven N’Zonzi – Roma

A central or defensive midfielder who we are big fans of, Steven N’Zonzi never seemed to be truly appreciated outside of Staffordshire during his time at Stoke City, perhaps due to the perceived style of play at the Bet365 stadium. The Frenchman has proved his class since leaving the club though, winning a Europa League title in 2016 and the World Cup in the summer just gone since being signed by Emery in 2015. A powerful but technical midfield operator, N’Zonzi is thoroughly capable of breaking up play, but he’s also an accurate passer of the ball. He brought a three-year stay in Seville to an end in the summer, joining Roma for a potential 30 million euros.

3. Sergio Escudero – Sevilla

The only player in this seven who is still with Sevilla, and that is somewhat surprising given that Unai Emery only left the club in 2016, third place in this seven is left-back Sergio Escudero. A very attack-minded left-back with bags of pace and energy, Escudero joined Sevilla from Getafe in 2015, and he has proved a shrewd addition ever since. The 29-year-old was called up to the Spain squad in 2016, but he has never won a full cap for his country.

2. Yevhen Konoplyanka – Schalke

One half of Ukraine’s dangerous duo of wingers that have representing the nation for almost a decade now, Sevilla were Yevhen Konoplyanka’s first club outside of his native land. He impressed in his single season with the club, and Schalke were happy to trigger his modest buyout clause in the summer of 2016. The three-time Ukrainian Footballer of the Year has been with the Bundesliga outfit ever since, bagging six goals in each of his first two seasons there.

1. Adil Rami – Marseille

A European Championships finalist in 2016, a World Cup winner in 2018, and until recently the partner of former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson, Adil Rami has had a busy few years. Back in 2015, the Frenchman signed for Sevilla from AC Milan for around 3.5 million euros. Rami played almost 80 games in two seasons in Seville, but he returned to France in a move to Marseille in 2017. Now aged 32, the former Valencia centre-back is still with the Olympians.
