Unai Emery has told the Arsenal hierarchy he plans to build his side around Aaron Ramsey and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to reports.
A number of reports, including BBC Sport, claim Emery is now poised to succeed Arsene Wenger at the Emirates with the Sun claiming the former Paris Saint-Germain boss could be officially unveiled as the new Gunners manager this week.
Their report claims the 46-year-old won over club chiefs during secret meetings held two weeks ago where he provided his blueprint for success. Emery reportedly provided detailed analysis of every member of the Gunners squad and how he intends to improve them, stressing his vision for the club’s future to be built around two key players.
Aubameyang, the club’s record signing after his arrival from Borussia Dortmund during the January transfer window, has hit the ground running in north London, scoring 10 goals in 12 Premier League starts during the second half of the season.
Ramsey has been an integral player at the Gunners for a number of seasons but, if that is to remain the case under Emery, Arsenal will have to address his contract situation.
The Wales international has just one more year remaining on his contract, a predicament the Gunners are no strangers to, with the Sun claiming Chelsea and Manchester United are among the clubs interested in the 27-year-old.
