Arsenal had to endure rotten luck with injuries last night.
Arsenal boss Unai Emery addressed the media in the aftermath of his side’s 2-2 draw away at Manchester United last night, and shared what he described as the ‘worst news’ concerning injuries picked up by Rob Holding and Aaron Ramsey, as quoted by Football.London.
The Gunners are now 20 games unbeaten in all competitions, and they sit in fifth spot in the Premier League table, just two points adrift of third placed Tottenham.
Arsenal will surely look at last night’s game as two points dropped, however, having twice taken the lead against United, but it must be remembered that Emery lost two of his key players through injury before half-time.
Holding limped off with a knee injury after 36 minutes, whilst Ramsey went off at the break.
Emery spoke to reporters, and admitted that the two players suffering knocks is really bad news for Arsenal, as quoted by Football.London:
“This is the worst news for us today. Rob Holding we are going to wait for the doctors, but it is a big injury. It’s his knee. Aaron I think it is a small injury.”
Holding’s injury certainly seemed a lot worse than Ramsey’s, and it will be a real shame if the centre-back is forced to miss a sustained period of time, considering how well he has started for the Gunners this season.
Next up for Arsenal is a home game against Huddersfield Town on Saturday, and Emery will surely be looking to rotate his team on the back of two incredibly hard games against Tottenham and United.
