It has been reported that Villarreal head coach Unai Emery – a former Arsenal manager – has made Foyth his top target in defence this summer.
The report in the Spanish publication has claimed that Tottenham do not want to sell the Argentina international central defender.
Villarreal’s reported interest in the 22-year-old will come as a blow for Leeds, who have also been linked with the youngster.
Earlier this month, The Sun mentioned Leeds as a possible destination for Foyth, with TMW reporting in August that the promoted Premier League club want to sign him.
Leeds United better option than Villarreal
If Tottenham do not want to sell Foyth this summer, then the North London club clearly see him as a player who can succeed at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Leeds will play in the Premier League this season, and it would make sense for Spurs to send the Argentine to Elland Road instead of loaning him out to a club in Spain, as the football in the two leagues are quite different.
