Arsenal are set to take on Liverpool in the Carabao Cup tomorrow evening.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has suggested to Football London that Mesut Ozil could captain his side tomorrow against Liverpool.

Ozil has often been overlooked by Arsenal boss Emery this season, which has aggravated supporters.

However, Emery admits that it is a real possibility that Ozil could wear the armband in the League Cup.

“It depends. He could be yes,” Emery said, when asked if Ozil could be named captain tomorrow.

Arsenal’s captaincy has become a subject of focus in the past week due to Granit Xhaka’s actions.

Xhaka showed dissent towards the club’s supporters after he was substituted off against Crystal Palace, and could now have the armband taken away from him.

Emery refused to confirm whether Xhaka would be stripped of the captaincy at his latest press conference, but it does appear to be a real possibility.

If Ozil wears the armband tomorrow he will have a huge task to lead Arsenal to success against Liverpool.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have still not lost a domestic game this season, and even though they are likely to rotate their side tomorrow, they will still pose a big threat to the Gunners.
