Arsenal manager Unai Emery has suggested to The Daily Mail that he expects Eddie Nketiah to play more at Leeds United in the coming weeks and months.

Emery has also suggested that he has no concern over Nketiah not getting much playing time at Leeds at the moment.

According to WhoScored, the 20-year-old striker has made eight substitute appearances in the Championship for the West Yorkshire outfit so far this season, scoring two goals in the process.

The youngster has also scored two goals in two EFL Cup ties for Marcelo Bielsa’s side this campaign, according to WhoScored.

Emery told The Daily Mail about Nketiah: “Now is not the moment, we are in October and he is now on loan at Leeds. First I respect his coach, his decision and I think he is going to play more because he is going to deserve it.

“Each match he is playing with his national team and with Leeds I think is very important for him and also for Arsenal, because our way with him is to give him the possibility to go on loan and to take confidence, to take rhythm and to take experience to use in the future for us.

“He is doing that, maybe he is playing less than we want but I assume he is going to play more.”

Staying patient

Nketiah is only 20 years of age, and he has to be patient and wait for his chance at Leeds.

True, the striker has been very good for Leeds and for the England Under-21 side in recent weeks, but he is still progressing and developing as a footballer, and his time will come.

Leeds are aiming to finish in the top two of the Championship table this season and clinch automatic promotion to the Premier League.
