Everton are reportedly interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey.

Aaron Ramsey was superb for Arsenal against Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby at the weekend, as the former Cardiff City midfielder underlined his quality and importance to manager Unai Emery’s side.

The Wales international midfielder played a crucial in the second half at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon after coming on as a substitute, as the Gunners got the better of Spurs 4-2.

Everton have been linked with 27-year-old, who is out of contract at Arsenal at the end of the season.

According to The Sun, Everton and Liverpool are interested in signing the Welshman, who is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League and would be a great signing for any club, especially on a free transfer.

Given Ramsey’s stunning performance against Tottenham, Everton fans may wonder if Arsenal will hand him a new contract.

However, it seems that the Gunners have no plan to resume talks over a new deal with Ramsey, with manager Emery suggesting that the chapter that was closed in September will not be opened – Everton can still sign the 27-year-old on a free transfer next summer.

Emery told The Sun about Ramsey’s future: “That situation was closed two months ago. I told him then that I understand that his future is very important for him and his family, but that I wanted him to focus only on the present and on his performances.”
