Rangers kept hold of Alfredo Morelos this summer, and even managed to add a couple of new strikers to Steven Gerrard’s squad.

The Gers brought in Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten, but a former Rangers striker has moved on for an even bigger fee than those two.

Remember Umar Sadiq? Honestly, you would be forgiven if his brief spell at Rangers didn’t leave an impression on you.

The Nigerian hitman joined Rangers on loan from Roma in the summer of 2018, but managed just four appearances for the Gers.

Rangers cut his loan short in January 2019, allowing him to move on to Perugia and then Partizan Belgrade, where he has become a star.

Sadiq racked up 17 goals in 39 games for Partizan last season, as well as six goals in 13 games this term, emerging as a goalscoring sensation in Serbia.

Sadiq has been linked with a move away for some time, and he completed a deadline day move to Spanish side Almeria, with Sportski Zurnal claiming the deal was worth €5million (£4.5million).

Rangers fans probably couldn’t imagine a world in which Sadiq was worth that much money, but he has now got his big move – and will again be looking to prove that he deserved more of a chance at Ibrox.
