A UFC Hall of Famer has another fight in mind for Trump’s 2026 White House card, instead of the one Conor McGregor wants to make.
During a rally at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on Thursday, President Donald Trump confirmed his intention to promote a UFC event in the White House. It will feature a title fight and is expected to draw 25,000 fans to the iconic setting.
McGregor expressed his interest in fighting there, even though he was reportedly considering retirement before the announcement.
But ahead of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, a UFC Hall of Famer believes there’s a better fit than the former two-division champion.
Michael Bisping wants Jon Jones vs Tom Aspinall in the UFC White House event

Michael Bisping spoke about the planned White House event on his YouTube channel recently, and while he said he’d love to be involved, he gave his pick for the headliner.
Bisping wasn’t interested in seeing McGregor headline the event. Instead, he spoke about the possibility of Jon Jones returning from retirement to face Tom Aspinall.
“Donald Trump announced a massive event; the UFC is coming to the White House,” Bisping said.
“Some fighters have already been putting their hand up and volunteering their services.
“Conor McGregor put his hand up, Michael Chandler said, ‘Let’s do this.’ There’s a lot of people. So let’s start with it, main event at the White House…who would this be?

“Can you imagine Ciryl Gane gets beaten by Tom [Aspinall], but he makes him work for it…that’s gonna have Jon Jones thinking, ‘Hang on a minute, I can beat this guy.’
“If there’s one fight and one location that Jon Jones would come out of retirement for, we might just get to see the greatest heavyweight fight of all time…that would be the main event at the White House. England vs. USA all over again! 1776, eat your heart out.”
Jon Jones fuelled return rumours
Jones seemed interested in stepping out of retirement not long after Trump made his announcement. He posted about the planned event on X with a two-word message: “Fighting at the White House?.”
That wasn’t all. Jones followed up with another post, hinting that he was already taking steps to return:
“Just re-entered the testing pool, that lasted for about two weeks,” he wrote. “Figured we’d keep everyone’s options open.”
With the White House event still a year away, there’s plenty of time for the fight to come together.
