Both Conor McGregor and Jon Jones have made it clear they want to be the main event when UFC heads to the White House in 2026.
Even though neither has been particularly active lately, their star power is undeniable, and either one would bring plenty of attention to the card.
David Feldman recently said that McGregor is looking sharp as he prepares for a possible comeback.
But not everyone agrees that he should be the one to headline such a high-profile show.
Matt Brown backs Jon Jones to headline UFC White House card over Conor McGregor

Matt Brown does not think Conor McGregor is the right choice to headline at the White House card. But he would have no complaints if Jon Jones was given the main event slot.
Speaking on MMA Fighting’s ‘The Fighter vs. The Writer’, Brown said: “I guess the thing with Conor, is it going to draw the interest that we think it would?”
“We would all talk about it him fighting, but Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor is a completely irrelevant fight. Right? There’s no relevance whatsoever. Does nothing other than I guess sell tickets maybe?”
“Jon Jones brings a lot to the table, right? The GOAT. He’d be fighting for a title, I’m sure, against Tom Aspinall, assuming he beats Ciryl Gane.
“I think Jon Jones would do fine. The White House is going to be a big card. If you want an American, you’ve got to go with Jon Jones. There’s no one I could think of that would be legitimate enough.”
What Jon Jones needs to do to headline the UFC White House card
Although Brown supports Jones’ participation in the historic card, Dana White has publicly pushed back against the idea.
The UFC boss has stated that the 38-year-old is unlikely to get the opportunity after his refusal to face Aspinall.
Despite this, Chael Sonnen believes there is a path back for Jones.
“Nothing would trump Jon getting in there and fighting. ‘I want on the White House card, so I’m willing to fight in Vancouver in February, I’ll work my way up, I’ll prove that I’m the number one contender. I want to show you’,” explained ‘The American Gangster’.
