Uros Medic did more than just win on Saturday night.
The welterweight extended his winning streak to three at UFC Houston, putting on a strong showing in front of the Toyota Center crowd.
Medic knocked out Geoff Neal in the co-main event of the February 21 card, highlighting how much he has grown since joining the UFC from Dana White’s Contender Series. His early days were inconsistent, but he looks far more settled now.
While ‘The Doctor’ has been stopping opponents inside the cage, he has also had other things on his mind lately.
Fortunately, after his victory at UFC Houston, his problem outside the Octagon was resolved by the intervention of Dana White and United States President Donald Trump.
Uros Medic cleared to return home after Donald Trump phone call in Dana White’s office

While getting ready for his fight at UFC Houston, Medic was also dealing with issues around his travel visa, which was stopping him from heading back to Serbia.
He talked about the situation after his win, and it did not take long for things to start moving in his favour.
With a call to Trump from the Toyota Center backstage, White secured presidential approval for the Serbian welterweight to travel without restrictions.
At the press conference, Medic stated: “It’s been hard, you know? Not being able to travel home.
“I get back, phone call with Dana White – I’m back in his office and Dana’s got President Donald Trump on speaker phone. And I’m just standing there, cannot believe what’s happening.
“He said, ‘You’re good to go wherever you please, you can travel, just give Dana the information you need.’ I’m just blown away.
“It was amazing for me to be able to tell him about the situation… I’m still processing all of it. Dana just made my dreams come true for the third time – first was to get signed, second was to go into the top 15, now I just got to speak with Mr. President on the phone.”
Uros Medic may be the new threat in the welterweight division after UFC Houston
Medic has had all of the tools to break into the top ranks at 170 pounds, and his performance at UFC Houston may have been what he needed to finally make that happen.
It has been an up-and-down journey inside the Octagon for the Serbian striker. After a defeat to Jalin Turner at lightweight, his move to welterweight hit early roadblocks with losses to Myktybek Orolbai and Punahele Soriano.
But since then, ‘The Doctor’ has completely turned things around, putting together wins over Gilbert Urbina, Muslim Salikhov, and now Neal.
The finish against Salikhov was impressive enough on its own, but it is Saturday’s performance – which also earned him a bonus – that will likely push him into the rankings.
And when you look at those currently sitting in the top 15 of welterweight, Medic is starting to look like someone they might need to keep an eye on.
