According to the Daily Mail, UEFA have been urged to take the Champions League final away from Russia, with Tottenham on standby.

What’s the story?

Well, due to the situation involving Russia and Ukraine, UEFA could now relocate the Champions League final, which was due to be held in St Petersburg.

The Gazprom Stadium in Russia was chosen to host the showpiece event, although Tottenham and their state-of-the-art arena could now take over.

According to the Daily Mail, the Champions League final could also be held at Wembley.

Sources told the Daily Mail that UEFA would rather wait until the semi-final stage to make a decision.

It is said that Daniel Levy is open to hosting the event, as it would be a lucrative contract for Spurs.

However, it could also provide a nightmare scenario for Tottenham fans.

Mauricio Pochettino could haunt Tottenham

If UEFA choose the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to host the Champions League final, it could end up being the stuff of nightmares for Spurs supporters.

Why? Well, Paris Saint-Germain are still in the competition, and look well placed to reach the quarter-final after beating Real Madrid 1-0 in the first leg of the last 16.

With the likes of Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar in his squad, there is no reason why Pochettino can’t go all the way and win the Champions League.

If the Argentine did so, on Tottenham soil no less, it would be a very embarrassing scenario for Levy, Spurs and the fans, given the fact Pochettino was sacked in 2019.

Tottenham fans dreamed of Pochettino lifting the Champions League at their new stadium, but those dreams could soon turn to nightmares.
