Some Arsenal fans on Twitter are fully behind a report from The Daily Mail about Ryan Bertrand.

Southampton announced last week that they would be releasing the left-back at the end of this season.

And according to The Daily Mail, Arsenal’s technical director Edu has ‘ramped’ up talks to sign the soon-to-be free agent since the announcement.

The Gunners are going to need another left-back this summer to cover Kieran Tierney next season.

And with 258 Premier League appearances under his belt – and a Champions League winners medal with Chelsea in 2012 – some Arsenal fans aren’t too upset by the prospect of this one materialising.

Here’s how some fans are reacting on Twitter:

Let’s be honest, a lot of other Arsenal fans on social media weren’t happy about this at all – and who can blame them?

Bertrand turns 32 in August and the North Londoners don’t have a great record post-Arsene Wenger when it comes to signing players over the age of 30.

Stephan Lichtsteiner, David Luiz and Willian all joined Arsenal over the past three years and the only one you could argue has done okay is Luiz, but even then you’d get plenty of people arguing the opposite.

Bertrand is an experienced player and he’d surely jump at the move to the Emirates, but Mikel and Edu must be certain that he’d be a quality back-up to an injury-prone Tierney.
