After years of talk and speculation, it seems one of boxing’s most anticipated fights is finally on the horizon.

For years, fans have wondered if Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua would ever step into the ring together. Now, it appears that could be closer to becoming a reality.

Both fighters have taken different paths in recent years, but now feels like the right time for both to make this happen.

Joshua’s next fight is against Jake Paul on December 19, a bout many expect him to handle without too much trouble.

Fury has never been able to shake Joshua’s name from his career narrative. It was always the fight that got away – until now, perhaps.

The long-standing debate between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua looks set to be settled in the ring, with a 2026 date now reportedly agreed.

According to The Ring Magazine, sources have confirmed that the two heavyweights will finally meet after years of speculation and missed opportunities.

The report also notes that before their showdown, both fighters will take on separate opponents as part of the same series.

This decision could raise concerns among fans. Boxing history has plenty of examples where major fights were derailed by unexpected results in tune-up bouts.

Fury hasn’t fought since his second defeat to Oleksandr Usyk last December, so it makes sense that he’d want a bout under his belt before stepping in against Joshua.

The renewed interest in this matchup was sparked several months ago when Joshua and Fury exchanged words again, leading up to this latest development.

Anthony Joshua has missed out on big fights before due to similar circumstances

One immediate concern for fans following this news will be the matchups Joshua and Fury are expected to take before facing each other.

Two years ago, Joshua vs Deontay Wilder fell through after both fighters shared a card in Riyadh. While Joshua won his bout against Otto Wallin, Wilder suffered a defeat to Joseph Parker earlier in the night, which took some of the shine off a potential meeting between the two.

This time around, with Joshua vs Fury finally feeling within reach, there’ll be added pressure on both men to get through their respective tune-ups without any surprises that could put the fight at risk once again.
