Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings has only played two games on loan at Aston Villa but already he’s made a name for himself.
His debut, against Reading last Saturday, saw him contribute to a clean sheet but also stir controversy after an incident which left Nelson Oliveira injured.
The Norwich City loanee needed surgery on four breaks to his nose as well as stitches to five cuts to his face, and has been ruled out of the Championship game at Sheffield Wednesday.
Mings faced no retrospective action following the incident (BBC Sport) and was able to play for Villa in Friday night’s game against Sheffield United, playing a key role in his side’s comeback in the 3-3 draw at Villa Park.
Trailing 3-0 to Billy Sharp’s hat-trick going into the latter stages of the game, the 25-year-old opening his account for Villa in the 82nd minute and paving the way for a late surge which culminated in further goals from Tammy Abraham and Andre Green.
Mings sent a Twitter message after the game which endeared him to the Villa supporters but some Royals fans were not pleased he was on the pitch at all, as seen by some of the reaction:
