Tyrone Mings has been an outstanding loan signing for Aston Villa, helping Dean Smith’s men force their way into the play-off positions.

Tyrone Mings has told The Telegraph that he is now certain that he made the right decision to join Aston Villa on loan in January, insisting that his time with the Villans has been massive for him.

Mings has been an inspired signing for Dean Smith’s men. Villa had real problems during the first-half of the campaign after leaving themselves short of options at the back in the summer.

But Villa are now inside the Championship’s top six having won their last four. In that run, they have conceded just one goal, keeping three clean sheets.

It is the kind of spell that looks set to lead to Mings having another chance in the Premier League next season, whether that be with Bournemouth or perhaps with a promoted Aston Villa. And the centre-back suggested that he is so happy with the move that he made.

“This loan is massive for me,” he told The Telegraph. “I don’t think I could underestimate how big it is and how big a decision it was to choose where to go because everything had to click immediately.

“The aim is obviously to make the play-offs, but coming here and playing games, and feeling wanted was so important. Personally, it was a big choice and I 100 per cent believe I made the right one.”

Villa are the club that most teams in the division will be hoping to avoid in the play-offs if their current form continues. There is always one side in the second tier that seems to come from nowhere to have all the momentum once the 46th game is in the books.

There are perhaps eight teams currently outside the top six that will still believe that they can force their way into those play-offs places. But on current form, it does not appear that Villa will be one of those that will be dropping out before the campaign concludes.
