Everton made a late addition to their squad on deadline day, bringing in highly-rated Chelsea winger Tyrique George.
George credited David Moyes as a key factor in his decision to join, also mentioning the Hill Dickinson Stadium during his first interview with Everton.
He said: “I’ve seen some pictures of (Hill Dickinson Stadium). It’s massive and looks amazing, so I’m really looking forward to playing there.”
David Moyes expressed his happiness at signing the ‘versatile’ George, suggesting he intends to use him in multiple roles.
The 19-year-old has already chosen his shirt number, and it might be a subtle nod to James Rodriguez.
Tyrique George’s shirt number revealed after Everton move

George will be wearing the number 19 shirt for Everton this season.
The youngster wore number 32 at Chelsea, but Jarrad Branthwaite currently has that shirt at Goodison Park.
Number 19 hasn’t been used since Vitaliy Mykolenko last wore it in 2024, but the most memorable name to have worn it is probably James Rodriguez.
During the 2020/21 season, Rodriguez scored six goals and provided nine assists while wearing number 19.
George will certainly be hoping he can deliver something similar for Moyes’ side this year.
Everton’s number 19 shirt: recent wearers
Alongside Rodriguez and Mykolenko, Gerard Deulofeu also wore the number 19 during his time at Everton.
The Spaniard put up some impressive numbers in the 2015/16 season, recording 12 assists. That is something George would no doubt love to match.
Outside of those names, though, the shirt has not really been worn by many standout players over the past ten years.
The list of recent No. 19 wearers includes:
- Vitaliy Mykolenko (2024)
- James Rodriguez (2021)
- Djibril Sidibe (2020)
- Oumar Niasse (2019)
- Enner Valencia (2017)
- Gerard Deulofeu (2016)
