Feyenoord have received a new record fee for a sale from Leeds United, with Jesse Marsch completing their signing of Colombian forward Luis Sinisterra for his sixth summer transfer.
The Elland Road natives have agreed to pay £21m for Sinisterra to move to West Yorkshire in Marsch’s first window. He follows moves for £20m Tyler Adams, £10m Marc Roca, £10m Rasmus Kristensen, £5m Darko Gyabi and Leeds’ record £25m capture, Brenden Aaronson.

Sinisterra’s arrival at the Premier League club is likely to serve as Marsch preparing for the departure of Raphinha. Sport report the Brazilian will train alone at Thorp Arch this month and hopes to finalise a move away before the new term, with Barcelona and Chelsea keen.

Leeds pay new Feyenoord record fee for a sale with Sinisterra signing
Raphinha was Leeds’ talisman last season as the forward offered 11 goals and three assists over 35 top-flight appearances. He was the only Whites player to score double figures and consistently presented their most threatening option. A role Sinisterra may now have to fill.
Marsch has bet big on Sinisterra’s signing after the five-cap international caught Leeds’ eye with his efforts for Feyenoord. The 23-year-old struck 23 goals and laid on 14 assists across 49 outings in all competitions. He hit 12 goals and created seven from 30 Eredivisie games.
Feyenoord sanctioned Sinisterra’s sale to Leeds as his transfer represents a club-record fee for a departing Stadionclub player. De club aan de Maas received their previous high figure off Roma in 2017. So, with that in mind, who paid Feyenoord’s prior record fees for a sale?

Roma paid previous Feyenoord record fee for a sale with Karsdorp capture
Roma set Feyenoord’s previous record fee for a sale with their capture of Rick Karsdorp in 2017. The right-back’s €19m (£16m) switch to Serie A marked his first spell away from the Rotterdam outfit, having honed his trade in their academy before entering their first-team.
Karsdorp would only depart the Stadion Feijenoord for two years before returning on loan, though. He spent the 2019/20 term back in his native Netherlands and reached 123 games with the club. The three-cap international has so far enjoyed 111 games for the Giallorossi.

Manchester United feature among Feyenoord’s biggest sales with Malacia move
Manchester United feature among Feyenoord’s seven biggest sales after paying £15m for Tyrell Malacia earlier this month. The left-back joined the Red Devils for an initial £13m on a four-year contract as former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag’s first signing in charge at Old Trafford.
Ten Hag had heavily scouted Malacia whilst in charge of Feyenoord’s Eredivisie rivals, and accelerated efforts to acquire the five-cap Netherlands international against interest from Lyon. The 22-year-old enjoyed 50 appearances in all competitions last term for five assists.

Roma swoop broke Feyenoord record Real Madrid set for Drenthe in 2007
Roma’s swoop for Karsdorp had set Feyenoord’s new record for a sale before Leeds signed Sinisterra, 10 years after Real Madrid did so. Los Blancos paid De club aan de Maas €14m (£12m) for Royston Drenthe back in 2007 to overtake €10.5m (£9m) interest from Chelsea.
The Blues had opened negotiations with a £5m offer, but fell some way shy of Feyenoord’s valuation with Aston Villa, Everton, Tottenham, Monaco and Roma also keen. Drenthe had only featured 36 times before joining Real Madrid, with whom the winger played 65 times.

Value plummeted after England switch for former Feyenoord star Kongolo
Terence Kongolo currently plies his trade at Fulham after leaving Huddersfield Town for an initial £4m, rising to £7m, in 2020. But back in 2017, the centre-half was leaving Feyenoord for Monaco in an £11.5m deal after 138 appearances with the Rotterdam outfit’s first-team.
The four-cap international only spent 18 months in the Principality before heading on loan to Huddersfield, however. The Terriers then made his move permanent later in 2018 for a club-record £17.5m plus bonuses, after which Kongolo went on to reach 60 appearances there.

Liverpool set Feyenoord record fee for a sale in 2006 with Kuyt capture
Rafa Benitez raided Feyenoord whilst in charge of Liverpool and paid £10m for Dirk Kuyt in 2006, which was also the Eredivisie outfit’s record fee for a sale at the time. The Reds had targeted the winger throughout the summer market that year against interest from Spurs.
Feyenoord were extremely loath to lose Kuyt after a star showing with the Netherlands at the World Cup in Germany. But they accepted defeat late in the window, after which the now-ADO Den Haag manager played 285 games with Liverpool for 71 goals and 41 assists.

Southampton feature among Feyenoord record sales with Clasie capture
Leeds have pushed Southampton into seventh among Feyenoord’s seven record sales with the signing of Sinisterra. The Saints broke into the top spots in 2015 when they paid £8.5m for Jordy Clasie on a five-year contract to replace Old Trafford-bound Morgan Schneiderlin.
Ronald Koeman targeted the Dutchman following 155 outings at Stadion Feijenoord as an academy graduate. Yet he would only make 48 for the Saints before loans to Club Brugge and Feyenoord, for a further 40 games, and joining AZ Alkmaar for a nominal fee in 2019.
