Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing Jose Mourinho share his thoughts on Alisson Becker’s recent form.

The Tottenham boss was asked about the Brazil international following high-profile mistakes in defeats to Manchester City and Leicester.

As quoted by the Irish Examiner, Mourinho said: “Well, when a player is a top player, it’s not because of one mistake or two or three that means he’s not a top player again.

“For me Alisson is one of the top five best goalkeepers in the world and in the last couple of matches, not at Leipzig, but in the matches before he’s made big mistakes but he’s is one of the top five goalkeepers in the world.”

In our view, the ex-Chelsea boss hasn’t really said much wrong here, although some Liverpool fans below have taken exception to his words.

One supporter felt Mourinho has ‘perfected’ the art of throwing ‘shade’ – a subtle dig – at players when complimenting them.

You could argue that’s what the 58-year-old did to Alisson, praising him while also reiterating to the press that he made three errors recently.

Another supporter felt this was ‘typical’ trash talk from Mourinho.

Elsewhere, another fan felt the Portuguese coach would’ve thrown Alisson under the bus if he was the £90,000-a-week shot-stopper’s manager.

However, two supporters seemed to like what Mourinho said, taking his comments at face value.

It really is all about perspective when trying to read into the former Real Madrid manager’s comments.

Some trust him, while others always try to read in between the lines.

Let’s see what the Liverpool fans on Twitter have been saying about his words on Alisson…
