Dimitar Berbatov has claimed that Harry Kane’s passing for Tottenham Hotspur is ‘closer’ to that of Manchester City star, Kevin de Bruyne.
Whether it be putting the ball into the top corner or laying the ball on a plate for Son Heung-min, Kane’s game has transformed over the last few years, as Berbatov described the Tottenham star’s career so far as a ‘fairytale’.
When Kane was coming through the Spurs ranks, he wasn’t someone who was fancied as much and he is a player that forcibly needed pushing through the first-team door.

Tim Sherwood played a big part in the 29-year-old’s rise because he gave him chances when others wouldn’t or other big-name signings were being picked.
When Mauricio Pochettino took over, he helped develop Kane into one of the world’s best strikers, then when Jose Mourinho arrived, added to the Englishman’s goals, he also became the assist king for that season.
Whether it’s pinging the ball out from one channel to the other, or scoring a crucial goal in stoppage-time, Kane now has it all, as Berbatov compared the England captain to de Bruyne, as he told Premier League Productions (01/10/22 at 12:05 pm).
“He’s very proud of what he has gone through in his career,” said Berbatov. “It’s a typical fairytale for a player that wanted to start, nobody was giving him the chance, then he needed to go to other clubs (on loan).
“And then you find a coach in the face of Tim (Sherwood), who had the courage to put the young boy there, especially when you buy expensive players.
“He took that chance Harry Kane and he never looked back. You see the statistics, sooner or later, he will be top scorer for England, of the club, probably catching Alan Shearer is going to take a bit more effort.
“Overall, he is a number ten and a number nine, even more number ten at times because his way of passing the ball is closer to that of Kevin de Bruyne, in my opinion. Very good passer of the ball.”

KANE’S LEGACY
Whatever happens in Kane’s career, he will forever be a Tottenham legend and one of the great players of the Premier League era.
Not only has he been ruthless in front of goal in the Premier League, but also in the Champions League and when he dons England colours.
A trophy or two would top up a career that can probably produce these high performances until he is 37 or 38.
Kane isn’t a player that relies on pace, but touch, composure, outstanding technique and high-level footballing intelligence.
