Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on social media are far from happy after hearing that they’ve opened talks with Jerome Boateng.

The German centre-half is out of contract in the summer, so he is able to negotiate a pre-contract with any club outside of Germany, and it seems as though Spurs are looking to take advantage of his situation.

Sky Germany have reported that talks have opened between the Bayern Munich ace and the London club, but fans aren’t keen on the idea of bringing him in.

Boateng is undoubtedly a legend of the game, he’s a World Cup winner and in his pomp he was arguably the best centre-back on the planet, but with Boateng turning 33 in September, some Spurs fans have doubts about his ability in this day and age.

To be fair, we can understand why. Boateng is ageing and he’s not a long-term solution to Spurs’ centre-half problem, and as much as Boateng is a legend, there’s a reason Bayern Munich are willing to let him leave on a free transfer.

Whether or not this deal gets over the line remains to be seen, but if Boateng is signed it certainly won’t be a very popular transfer amongst Spurs fans.

Here’s what Tottenham supporters have been saying on social media…
